Gerard is a highly experienced Chartered Building Surveyor, Building Engineer, Environmentalist and Design & Build Consultant with over 35 years in the construction and property industry, having begun his career as an apprentice Carpenter and Joiner. His career has taken him across Ireland, the United Kingdom, mainland Europe and Asia, providing a broad and well-rounded perspective on the built environment.
He has contributed to numerous professional committees, including RICS, CIOB and CABE, both in the UK and internationally, and has studied at several universities as well as lectured on a range of construction-related subjects. In 2023, Gerard was awarded a PhD in Building Pathology and the Conservation of Listed Buildings by thesis, and he currently holds five Fellowships and four Charterships.
As a Director of CharterHouse he plays a key role in delivering comprehensive surveying, engineering and architectural services across a wide range of residential and commercial projects. He has recently been honoured with Fellowship of the Institute of Construction Management (FIConstM) and has also been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Association of Construction Quality Professionals (FACQP), reflecting his ongoing commitment to excellence within the industry.
